Britain’s cyber security chiefs warned that skill shortages threaten to leave companies in the United Kingdom vulnerable to a ‘significant and growing wave’ of cyber crime.
Ciaran Martin, director of the National Cyber Security Centre, has spoken on the severity of cyber crime, stating:
“If we don’t get cyber security right, the fundamentals of our economy and our way of life could be challenged.”
The director believes that companies need to stop leaving cyber security up to data experts and instead make it a board-level issue. In addition investors should push companies to prioritise cyber security, and to adapt quickly to the rising threat of cyber crime.
